China is a world leader in the production and application of chemical fiber. In 2016, the total output of chemical fiber reached 49.44 million tons, accounting for 69.4% of the total amount of global fiber, and the total processing volume of textile fiber was 54.2 million tons, of which chemical fiber accounted for 84.23%. However, with the rapid development of the industry, the subsequent disposal of waste products is becoming more and more urgent.

According to industry estimates, by the end of the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, China’s production of waste chemical fiber textiles could reach nearly 200 million tons. Waste chemical fiber products are treated as garbage for simple disposal such as landfill or incineration, which not only seriously pollutes the environment, but also causes great waste of resources. The comprehensive recycling of used and waste chemical fiber textiles in China can solve the rough consumption of raw materials from the root cause, alleviate the long-standing high dependence on the import of chemical fiber raw materials, and the constraints of raw material resources, and solve the problem of the non-degradability of waste textiles. Pressure will lead the Chinese textile industry to participate in international competition at higher levels such as low carbon and resources.
